Duane was born on a small farm in the Midwest. He accepted Christ as his personal
Savior on October 31 at the age of eight. Going home, he told his dad that he was
glad that he had driven carefully to church that day; otherwise, he would not have
gone to Heaven if he had died. The next day at school, he told a classmate that
he needed to get saved.
After high school and business college, Duane enlisted in the Air Force and married
soon after. He was stationed in Texas and Greenland. During the time in the
military, he was not living for the Lord. Karen, his wife, had a car accident and
could have been killed but was spared. It was evident that God was speaking to the
young couple. Both repented and dedicated their lives to the Lord. A few years
later, the Lord blessed them with two children. Throughout the following years,
job changes and moves brought about the privilege to serve in four independent
fundamental Baptist churches, while Karen was blessed to teach in four Christian
schools. During these years, six dear grandchildren were added to the family
bringing wonderful blessings of the next generation.
The following verses are dear to Duane’s heart. Proverbs 22:6 is helpful from a
youth’s perspective and from a parent’s perspective. I John 1:9 is a promise given
at salvation and applied to our daily lives when we need forgiveness. Psalm 19:14
is a daily challenge to live our lives bringing honor to our Lord and Savior, Jesus
Christ.
Mike was saved and then baptized in Spring of 1986 at age 12. His wife and family have been members of MBC since January 2005. Mike’s son & daughter have both come to know Christ as their Savior here at MBC. He has served as a Deacon since 2010 & have served as a Sunday School teacher, Youth Group Sponsor, & Church Bus driver in the past.
